GIVE YOUR PAST A FUTURE
|
| By leaving a legacy to the St. Swithun’s Restoration Trust
you will be helping to preserve East Grinstead’s finest building. You will
also ensure that the church continues to teach, inspire and be a centre for
the people of the town. We need your help to achieve this. Thank you for considering leaving a legacy to the Restoration Trust. HOW CAN I INCLUDE A LEGACY TO THE RESTORATION TRUST IN MY WILL? If you would like to include a gift to the Restoration Trust in your Will, you should first contact your solicitor or another qualified professional to help you. However, this brief summary will give you some options for the type of legacy you may wish to leave. A RESIDUAL LEGACY enables you to leave the whole of your Estate, or a percentage of it, to the Restoration Trust, once you have taken care of your family and friends. This standard phrasing may help you in leaving a residual legacy to the Trust. ‘Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I will give, free of tax, the whole of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will (alternatively x percentage of my residual estate) to the Trustees of the Restoration Trust and declare that the receipt of their Treasurer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.’ A PECUNIARY LEGACY allows you to specify the actual sum of money you wish to leave the Trust. You may prefer to use this wording if you would like to leave the Trust a pecuniary legacy. ‘I give free of tax to the Trustees of the St Swithun’s Restoration Trust the sum of xx (preferably inflation linked to the retail price index) from the date of this my Will and declare that the receipt of their Treasurer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.’ BUT WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY MADE MY WILL? If you have already made your Will, you can make amendments by use of a codicil. A codicil is a separate instruction which can be drawn up by your solicitor to make amendments to an earlier Will. You should consult your solicitor or qualified professional in making these changes as they will be able to ensure that your exact wishes are carried out. The St. Swithun’s Church Restoration Trust is extremely grateful to you for considering leaving a legacy. To acknowledge our appreciation of your generosity, any legacy received will be acknowledged and those gifts that are over £10,000 will be permanently credited within the church building with a plaque. If you require any further information, please contact the Chairman, St. Swithun’s Restoration Trust, c/o The Vicarage, Church Lane, East Grinstead. A legacy does not need to be much money but however much it is will make a big difference and we are extremely grateful for all the support we receive. |
