Over 70 people had a most memorable evening on March 15th, when the East Grinstead Town Band gave a splendid concert at St Swithuns on the platform.
The Town Band had volunteered there services and all profits have been donated to the Restoration Trust.
The money for the platform was left by Elizabeth Lee in her will, and after much consultation and planning was built by Graham Everest ( seen below ). He made all the parts at home in advance of the removal of the 4 pews to minimise the time taken to assemble it and in no time it was there – looking like it was always part of the church. The Ironstones have been moved and there is now a large area of new stone floor around the platform that has already been used by the Sunday school as a play area during All Age services.
